Another one that got away. Anti-Social Burn Outs, cunningly nicknamed the ASBOs, were a refreshing, hedonistic, contradictory, disrespectful, disorganised mix of energy, attitude, aggression, tattoos and booze. And some inspiring, confrontational, speed-fuelled gigs showcasing the potential of their songwriting. What they needed wasn't so much a record label as a bossy manager able to impose some sort of organisation on them. Something I wasn't confident enough to try to do. Thanks to a recent FB chat with band member Leo, we have here on Bandcamp for the first time the 3 tracks from their Holdfast download single and their 2 more polished contributions to the Burn Cambridge Burn compilation. Listen and understand how their rock'n'roll lifestyle managed to scare off Towers of London...

PRESS RELEASE, October 2008
ANTI-SOCIAL BURN-OUTS release new single Holdfast
Available via all Digital Platforms from November 1st and mail order from R*E*P*E*A*T Records for £2
The ANTI-SOCIAL BURN-OUTS - a rock ‘n’ roll/punk 4 piece based in Nottingham/Cambridge - are fast on their way to becoming the new music phenomenon of the decade, as they seek to inject the music industry with a welcome, no-holds-barred energy it has craved for so long. The band have just played the Pre-Launch show for their upcoming single "HOLD-FAST" which sold out days before, reinforcing an already passionate following across the country with appearances in Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh, and of course, two explosive, sell-out shows in their home towns.
The ANTI-SOCIAL BURN-OUTS’ unique style has already made them the obvious support choice for Towers Of London, Send More Paramedic, Drongos For Europe, Total Chaos, Spit like This and recently Inme at the Cambridge Junction, where they stole the show. These gigs have seen them expand their rapidly increasing fan base and have generated an insatiable demand for their three self financed releases and distinctive merchandise, which is regularly seen worn by all the best local misfits and punk poets . They are now booking more shows across the country, looking to support local unsigned bands and national headliners.
The ANTI-SOCIAL BURN-OUT'S healthy disrespect for all things staid, safe and 'scene' made them perfect allies for local mouthy underground label R*E*P*E*A*T Records, who released early tracks 'Suicide Mission' and 'No Looking Back' on the notorious compilation 'Burn Cambridge Burn'. Many reviewers of the CD picked out the ANTI-SOCIAL BURN-OUTS for special mention, realising that “as opening statements go you'll find it difficult to find anything as direct and hard hitting as the twin attack from Anti-Social Burn-Outs ... stabbing rock riffs, pumping bass, clattering drums and delightfully gruff, feral vocals spat out with true conviction and attitude” (Rhythm and Booze fanzine).
The band live up to their reputation for being a wild, hard-hitting live act that stop for nothing but their fans. Things are looking and sounding great for these four lads, who most definitely have the rock ‘n’ roll swagger and punk rock attitude to get where they want to be!
